Comparison between DAS28-ESR and DAS28- CRPus for patients with rheumatoid arthritis: application in a population of southern Brazil

چکیده
The Disease Activity Score 28 (DAS28) shows discrepancies when using erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and C-reactive protein (CRP) scores to assess rheumatoid arthritis (RA). This study aimed verify the agreement between DAS28-CRP DAS28-ESR in patients with RA from south of Brazil. A unicentric cross-sectional was performed (n = 56). diagnosis followed American College Rheumatology/ European League Against Rheumatism criteria, their DAS28 were calculated. DAS28- ESR score higher than (DAS28-ESR mean 4.8±1.6; 4.3±1.4) for 83.9% patients. showed a very strong correlation (Pearson’s coefficient 0.922; P<0.0001, 95% CI +0.87 +0.95, statistical power 100%). Spearman’s (0.49; P=0.0001, +0.25 +0.67, 47.54%) moderate unique components formulas. There tests only 36 (64.29%). Among discordant categories, overestimated classification 16 (28.5%). Kappa categories 0.465 (SE 0.084, +0.301 +0.630), showing degree instruments. Although highly correlated, they differed significantly terms patient categorization should not be used interchangeably.

Comparison of Activity Score DAS28-ESR and DAS28-CRP in Moroccan Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis
Background: Disease Activity Score-28 joints (DAS-28) is nowadays the gold standard for measuring the disease activity in patients with RA. The original DAS-28 was based on erythrocyte sedimentation (ESR), but an alternative formula incorporating C-reative protein (CRP) [DAS-28(CRP)] has been developed. Objectives: To compare the disease activity score DAS28-ESR versus DAS28–CRP, and to determi...
متن کاملDiscrepancies in assessment of patients with rheumatoid arthritis and secondary Sjögren's syndrome by DAS28-ESR and DAS28-CRP
OBJECTIVES To investigate whether a difference exists between DAS28 from CRP and DAS28 from ESR in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and secondary Sjögren's syndrome (sSS). MATERIAL AND METHODS One group comprised patients with RA and sSS, the control group comprised patients with RA. The inclusion criteria for the RA and sSS group have been specified as follows: presence of at least on...
متن کاملDAS28-CRP and DAS28-ESR cut-offs for high disease activity in rheumatoid arthritis are not interchangeable
BACKGROUND In most patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), Disease Activity Score 28-joint count C reactive protein (DAS28-CRP) is lower than DAS28 erythrocyte sedimentation rate (DAS28-ESR), suggesting that use of the DAS28-ESR cut-off to assess high disease activity (HDA) with DAS28-CRP may underestimate the number of patients with HDA. We determined the DAS28-CRP value corresponding to the ...
متن کاملAssociations between acute phase reactant levels and disease activity score (DAS28) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
Serum levels of acute phase reactants (APR) were measured in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and the correlations of these parameters with the disease activity score (DAS28) were investigated. The study included 47 patients with RA and 50 healthy controls. Laboratory tests included erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), serum C-reactive protein (CRP), haptoglobin (Hp), ferritin, and plas...
متن کاملDAS28: a useful instrument to monitor infliximab treatment in patients with rheumatoid arthritis
The Disease Activity Score using 28 joint counts (DAS28) has been developed in a cohort of patients with rheumatoid arthritis in which only conventional anti-rheumatic treatments were used. It has extensively been validated to monitor disease activity in daily clinical practice as well as in clinical trials. The study of Vander Cruyssen and colleagues showed that the DAS28 correlated best with ...
